Valentine’s Day is approaching and why not share love notes with your husband, kids, family, or friends for 14 days. Learn how to share your love with others. Counting 14 love notes to Valentine’s Day.
The 14 days of love notes to Valentine’s Day started when my kids were in elementary school. I wanted to make February Fun. My kids needed to remember that not only their parents love them, but God loves them even more. Included is how to share these love notes by mail or digitally with your loved ones that may not live in your home.
Valentine Love notes for Those at Home
How to Make Verse Cards
I picked out 14 verses on love from the Bible that I wanted to share with my kids and my husband. The verses I used are listed at the bottom of the blog. Next, I printed the verses on cardstock for each of my kids. The verses I picked were ones I wanted my kids to remember and to stick with them.
This is where you can be as simple as you want. Simply print and your notes are ready or decorate with stickers, punches, buttons, or ribbons. Do whatever your creative mind can come up with.
Days 1 to 13 of February
Every day February 1st to the 13th I would leave the love notes and a treat or a little gift around the house for my kids to each find. Sometimes, I would leave it on their pillow to find after school, or by their cereal bowl in the morning. Other days they would find it in their lunch box.
They never knew when they would get their message of love from God. The kids also enjoyed their chocolate dove hearts, pack of gum, pencil or pen, socks, or some hairbands I would leave with the note.
I even got my husband in on it, by hiding love notes for him. Sometimes I made him special verses from the Song of Solomon. He would find them in his lunch box or by his toothbrush in the morning. One day it was a sticky note on the mirror.
February can be pretty cold in the north, so you do fun things to make winter go quicker and enjoy each other.
Valentine’s Day Celebration
On the 14th which is Valentine’s day, each of my family members got their homemade card with one of the verses in it. I also made a special Valentine’s meal and a special dessert. Some years we tried to make red foods, but other years it was just food they loved. For more ideas on Valentine’s Day foods and crafts, see the blog called February Fun.
Digital Love Notes to Valentine’s Day
We don’t want to forget the kids, loved ones, and friends who live away from you. Now that I have an empty nest I need to be more creative to count the days to Valentine’s Day.
Here are some ideas to send love notes to those at a distance.
First, if you made the cardstock Bible verses you can mail a package to each of your kids and number each card for the day, they are to read it. Maybe they can decorate their apartment/house or dorm with each of the verses. You must mail it to them before February 1st for them to fully enjoy it.
The second idea is to take a picture of each of the verses and text or email it to them each day, or make a digital picture of a verse and text it to them each day.
Finally, make sure you send them a nice card and treat with the last verse in the card to enjoy on Valentine’s Day.
Decorating with Verses/ 14 Love Notes
Next, after printing and decorating 14 verses, purchase a red ribbon or twine and clothespins. Make a swag with your twine or ribbon. Every day read a verse and clothespin the verse onto the ribbon or twine. What a great way to decorate for the month. If desired just pin all the verses up on February 1st.
You can be as creative as you want. Please share with me any creative things you come up with.
If you are single or living alone, print out 14 verses and decorate your house, if desired, and read aloud each verse each day. Pray the verse over yourself.
Perfect Love Drives out Fear
One of the verses I have memorized is “perfect love drives out fear” or in some translations, it is “cast out fear.” This verse speaks to me. You can’t have love and fear going on at the same time. It’s either love or fear. I often tell myself. If I am being fearful, then there is no love going on.
Love creates a fearless state for me to give love and for the receiver to receive it. Jesus’s love made him so fearless that he went to the cross for our sins. The more you love the less you fear and the less you fear the more you love
Outpouring of Love
The message I pray gets to our kids is ” Jesus loves you, and “I love you”. We need to love God and Love, People.
When love is the greatest in me, most of it is pouring out of me. I am sharing my love with others.
Ask God to increase your capacity to love. Ask him to give you the desire to share the love and put your love in action. Not just say love, but do love.
Neighborly Love
Do something fun for your neighbors this valentine’s day. Leave them a love card or a treat on their steps, or simply give them a phone call and say, “Happy Valentine’s day” “how are you doing?”
This reminds me of just a normal day at work at the long-term care facility I worked at. I was walking through the dining room and one of the residents was waiting for mealtime to start. I caught her attention and said to her, “how are you”? She stopped and said, “What”? “What did you say”? I repeated it louder and she asked again, “What”? Even louder I asked her, “How are you doing”?
She replied with a smile on her face….”Oh, I love you too!” I had to chuckle and hugged her. I had made her day!
She had thought I said, “I love you” so I just let her think that. I wish I would have said that to her instead. We all want to be loved. In words, or a note to be remembered, celebrated, noticed, or even discovered. Share your words wisely and make them words of love.
Enjoy fun words, love, and truth with your friends and family the first 2 weeks of February. Finally, Get creative and keep the love flowing by counting 14 days of love notes to Valentine’s Day.
