Heaven on My Mind

Heaven has been on my mind lately. Every day I seem to think about Heaven.  Let me tell you why I’ve got heaven on my mind. Heaven is my home.

Family in Heaven

First off, when I remember all the people, I miss such as my parents, I think of Heaven.  I think of how they are now free from, pain, sorrow, death, and the troubles of this world.  Sometimes I want to give them a big hug and wish they were here. I am excited to know that someday I will be in heaven and we will share eternity forever with our Lord.

Troubles of This World

Sometimes this world with all the troubles draws me to focus on heaven.   No more earthly troubles or sorrows when we are in heaven.  I want to focus on heaven and I want those I know to find all the joys of living for Christ who is our eternal blessed hope.

Heaven on my Mind

Heaven Bound

Our days have been numbered by God.  I may die suddenly or I may have many years left on this earth.  One thing I know is I believe in Jesus Christ who saved me from my sins. I live my life for him and will one day be in heaven- all in His timing.

The other way we will reach our blessed hope in Heaven is when Christ comes to take the living and the dead to meet him in the air.  This is what is called the rapture of the church.   Christ will take His believers to heaven.

For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. “ 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

If you want more information in the bible on Believers who die it’s in 1Thessalonians chapter 4. 1 Thessalonians 4 NIV Bible Gateway

Believe it or not- The day the Lord comes to meet his believers in the clouds could be any day. We do not know the day or the hour. That is why I am heavenly-minded.

Heaven on my mind.

We Believe

I keep singing the song “We Believe” by the Newsboys. It reminds me daily.  That I believe in God the Father, God the Son, holy spirit.  We believe he died to save us, we believe he rose again and we believe he’s coming back.   He did this to save us from our sins.  We just need to ask for forgiveness, repent and believe.

When things get tough and not the way I planned I can’t help but know I am living for heaven, not this world.

Living for the Dot or Line?

Randy Alcorn, asks in his book, “The Treasure Principle,” are you living for the dot- (this world) or the line? (heaven)  Everything we do for the world is the dot but everything we do for heavenly gain is the line.

If you are investing in people to know the Lord and using your resources to lead others to Christ, then you are living and investing in the line which is heaven.  Living for eternity starts on earth with how we live our lives and it continues in heaven.

Troubles and Joy

This world has troubles.  The other day my mind was thinking about all the things we deal with in the world, our health, jobs, government, kids, and families and it can be troublesome to your mind if you let it.

Instead, my mind went to the verse “Consider it pure joy when you face troubles of many kinds because it produces perseverance.” James 1:1-2.

These troubles are only earthly. I can push ahead because I know I am living the verse, “To live is Christ and die is gain.”

That “pure Joy’ in the James verse is Heaven.

Similarly, Jesus did the same thing for us– Hebrews 12:2  “Fixing our eyes on Jesus the perfecter of faith. For Joy set before Him, he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.“

Jesus endured the cross, we can endure our worldly troubles with our focus on Heaven.

I am living on earth with an attitude of joy in the Lord, knowing these troubles have a purpose in my spiritual gown on earth.  If I can’t be in heaven now, I can learn to rely on God for my earthly troubles and grow my faith and relationship with Him.   It is not easy but, in the end, it’s worth it.   Pressing on to the Goal- set my eyes on the prize which is heaven-focused.

If you are not living for the line or heaven and only for the dot which is this earth, then it will be the end of all endings with no hope.   Turn your hope to the Lord and Heaven.

Our hope is in the Lord- He is our firm foundation that never ends. This life is all about heaven- and taking those we know with us to heaven. Press on in this world and wait for our Lord.   Heaven on my mind.
