Pizza History
National Pizza Day is always February 9th and no one knows when the day was created. Modern-day pizza was started in the 18th century in Naples. In the 19th century, the Italians brought the dish to the USA. It became popular after World War II and is now the most popular food in America. We go out for pizza, have it delivered, make it at home, heat frozen pizzas, or make it from scratch.
Pizza, Pizza, Pizza – My Favorites
I love pizza and have a few blogs of unusual pizzas I make at home. Here are the links for the recipes. Make one of these on National Pizza Day. Thai Pizza, Taco Pizza, BBQ Pizza.
I love pizza because you can be as creative as you want with it and top it with all your favorite meats, veggies, and even fruits. Pizza can be a good meal if you eat it in moderation and watch the high-fat toppings. After all, you can get your dairy, bread, veggie, meat, and fruit groups all in one dish.
Pizza Soup
One day I was cleaning out some old recipes and ran across pizza soup which I had not made yet. Like always, a new recipe is fun. This recipe was quick and tasty. Of course- I never follow the recipe as written so here is my take on Pizza Soup.
If you think you are going to miss the crust, I recommend making my easy breadsticks and using them to dip into the soup. You may not like the crust or you are gluten-free, so just make the pizza soup recipe and enjoy.

Remove caseins from sausage and cook in a Dutch oven until crumbled and no longer pink. Add onion, peppers, and saute’ until tender. Drain off fat. Add the next 6 ingredients. Simmer for 20 minutes until all the flavors have combined. (You could make this in a crockpot for 6 hours on low.)
