Spring is in the air, and with March and April comes Spring cleaning. If your winter lasts forever, I’d suggest you do this in April. Sharing simple ideas for Spring Cleaning Tips you can work on now.

Basic Cleaning Leveled Up
If you clean every week, you should have an easier cleaning, but the dust flies with the heating. Here are some things you can do to elevate it beyond the basic clean.
- Use a long-handled duster to clean the cobwebs and dust along your wall, from the ceiling edge to the baseboards. You wouldn’t believe all the spiders and dust bunnies you’ll find. The window ledges will also need a quick swipe over, too.
- If you don’t have a robot vacuum and you are not getting under nightstands and beds, then you need to move your furniture to get under them. I love our robot vacum especially if you are allergic to dust mites like me.
- Pick one thing per day to clean for a week. 1. Oven 2. refrigerator/freezer- under and behind 3. Fireplace 4. Washer /dryer- and under and behind, 5. Coat closets 6. Ceiling fan cleaning
- Clean your bathrooms in detail- deep clean the sinks, tub, shower, and toilets.
- Deep clean the kitchen sink and counters
- Wipe down the cabinets in your kitchen
- Clean your mudroom/laundry room
- Sweep and dust your patio or deck
- Wash the windows inside and out
- Your garage may need a sweep down and organization
- Clean the filters in your HVAC system
When I say deep clean, it will all vary based on the mud and dust you drag in.

Family Help
Get your family involved in this. Since our spring breaks were in the middle of winter, and it was too expensive to fly anywhere, we usually assigned jobs to each family member.
My husband got the garage, mudroom, and ceiling corners, wall corners, baseboards, and ceiling fans. I usually helped the kids each clean their rooms and went through their clothing and toys. The kids did more of the basic cleaning, like vacuuming, and helped me with deep cleaning tasks. Windows are good jobs for the kids or the husband. (I hate cleaning windows)
It may seem like a lot, but if you do it together, you can get it done within a week or less with a little bit each day.
Don’t quit with spring cleaning. After summer was over, I usually enlisted the family again, and we did a quicker fall cleaning to get our house ready for the school year and winter. Plan spring cleaning and fall cleaning into your yearly schedule so that the family helps, and your life won’t feel like it spiraled out of control.

Cleaning Supplies
I recommend using natural, nontoxic cleaners, like Melaleuca, Mrs. Meyers, Dr. Bonner’s, or make your own with vinegar and lemon, and use Norwex cleaning cloths. My husband likes to use cleaning vinegar for the coffee pot and the hard-to-clean areas.
I use Melaleuca cleaning supplies. Here is a link to melaleuca sign up. You can contact me for my referral #. Don’t make yourself sick with toxic cleaning supplies. Toxic cleaners enter your body, and it’s one more thing besides the environment and food toxins that can make you sick.

Happy Spring and Happy Spring Cleaning!

If you’re already deep cleaning, it’s worth pulling the fridge out and vacuuming the coils in the back. They are always covered in tons of dust and it definitely makes it work harder than it needed to, and use more energy.
